4 Days Desert Tour From Fes to Marrakech

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert

After an early pick-up from your accommodation in Fes, we begin our journey south. We drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, making a brief stop in the alpine-style town of Ifrane and in the cedar forests to see Barbary macaques. We descend towards the Sahara, passing through Midelt and enjoying a panoramic view of the vast Ziz Valley palm grove. We continue via the fossil town of Erfoud before arriving at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga in the late afternoon. Here, you will mount a camel for a serene trek across the golden sands at sunset to reach your authentic desert camp. Enjoy a traditional dinner and spend the night under a spectacular starry sky.

Day 2: Erg Chebbi Full Day Tour

Rise early to catch the serene sunrise from your campsite—an experience not to be missed. After indulging in a delicious breakfast, we’ll whisk you away in a 4×4 vehicle for a day of exploration in the Sahara:
Venture to the nomadic settlements, where you’ll be warmly welcomed into one of their traditional tents for a refreshing cup of tea. This unique opportunity offers insight into their lifestyle in the challenging desert environment, far removed from modern civilization.
Discover a hidden abandoned village nestled in the heart of the desert, once inhabited by miners who worked in the nearby Galena mines. Explore the remnants of this secluded settlement and gain a glimpse into its intriguing history.
Journey to the village of Khamlia, renowned for its vibrant Gnaoua music performed by local musicians. Originating from the southern African countries like Sudan, this rhythmic and soulful music will captivate your senses. While here, treat yourself to a delightful lunch at a local restaurant, immersing yourself further in the authentic Moroccan culture.
Following lunch, we’ll make our way to a nearby lake near Merzouga, provided it’s at its fullest. Finally, we’ll head back to your riad, concluding our enriching exploration of the desert.

Day 3: Merzouga –  Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Begin your day with the serene beauty of a desert sunrise before enjoying a delicious breakfast at your camp. Following breakfast, you have the option to return to Merzouga either by camel trek or a comfortable 4×4 ride.
Embark on a scenic journey towards Boumalne Dades, passing through the town of Rissani, Erfoud, and the magnificent Todgha Gorges. If your visit coincides with a market day (Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday), you’ll have the opportunity to explore the bustling traditional market in Rissani, offering a glimpse into the local culture.
Continue your exploration as you stroll along the Todra River and marvel at the towering Todgha Gorge in Tinghir. In the afternoon, arrive in Boumalne Dades and embark on a picturesque drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll encounter the iconic rock formations known as the ‘monkey fingers.’
Cap off your day by checking into a charming hotel nestled amidst the stunning landscapes of the Dades Valley, where you’ll spend a relaxing evening surrounded by natural beauty.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

Today marks the final leg of your 4-day Fez to Marrakech desert tour. After enjoying a delicious breakfast at your hotel, embark on a scenic journey towards Marrakech.
Your first stop will be the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, located just 15 kilometers from Ouarzazate. This UNESCO World Heritage site is renowned for its well-preserved mud-brick architecture and has served as a backdrop for numerous films and TV shows, including Game of Thrones and Gladiator.
After exploring Ait Ben Haddou and indulging in a satisfying lunch, continue your journey to Marrakech. Traverse the majestic High Atlas Mountains, passing through the Tizi n’Tichka pass at an elevation of 2260 meters above sea level. Along the way, soak in the breathtaking landscapes and panoramic views that this route offers.
